Jim Thalassoudis (Greek, b. 1962) - Study of the Sky, Signed (2004, Oil on Linen)

$650.00

Jim Thalassoudis (Greek, b. 1962) - Study of the Sky, Signed (2004, Oil on Linen). In very good condition. Signed and titled en verso. Unframed.

Size: 12” x 12” x 2”

Recognised for his paintings of fluorescent neon signs, acclaimed artist Jim Thalassoudis takes viewers on a journey through semi-nocturnal streets, clustered with vacant motels and fast-food outlets that beckon prospective visitors through intricate lighting displays. Thalassoudis’ scenes pay homage to the artificial light that transforms our skylines when darkness descends, and we are reminded of American-Realist Edward Hopper’s urban and rural depictions of modern American life. Combining photographic documentation and intricate artistry, Thalassoudis’ fluorescent scenes of Australian cityscapes capture the fleeting space between dusk and dawn.
