Maker Biography: Henri Keramik

Henri Keramik was a Danish studio pottery founded in the 1950s by Henry Nielsen and his wife Else Nielsen, operating first in Paarup near Odense before moving to Rugårdsvej in Lindholm. The studio produced ceramics until the 1990s and became known for strong sculptural forms, textured glazes, and expressive decorative surfaces characteristic of Danish Brutalist mid-century design.

The workshop created vases, bowls, and lamps, often hand-thrown in stoneware with sgraffito relief decoration and earth-toned glazes. Pieces are typically hand-signed "HENRI" on the base, as with the present vase.
