Artist Biography: Sung Hwa Kim (b. 1985)

Sung Hwa Kim is a painter based in New York City. Born in Seoul, South Korea, he received his BFA from The Art Institute of Boston and his MFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art.

Kim’s recent work has been featured in notable group exhibitions, including The Edge Effect, curated by Akili Tommasino at the Katonah Museum of Art (Katonah, NY); Shifted Horizon at Hesse Flatow (New York, NY); 36 Paintings at Harper’s Books (East Hampton, NY); and NOCTURNE, presented by M+B on Galleryplatform.LA (Los Angeles, CA). His practice has also been included in thematic shows such as RECLAIMING, REIMAGINING at Field Projects (New York, NY) and COLOR, curated by Jocelyn Miller at the Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition (Brooklyn, NY).
