This object is a hand carved polychrome wood sculpture depicting a saint, or santo, from the Spanish Colonial tradition. The figure is atop a tapered base with hands folded in prayer. The surface exhibits a heavy patina consistent with age and devotional use, with wear and loss to the polychrome layers revealing the wood substrate and earlier paint stages.
