Antique Folk Art Polychrome Caiman Guerrero Green Horned Bearded Man Mask
A hand carved and polychrome green painted wooden mask from the Guerrero region of Mexico, depicting a horned, bearded male figure, sometimes referred to as the “Caimán” type. The mask is characterized by its vivid green pigment and multiple projecting horns across the forehead, cheeks, and chin. Such masks are traditionally used in regional dance festivals and ritual performances, embodying mythological or animal human hybrid figures. The surface shows evidence of age with a damaged horn on the left side and minor pigment loss consistent with wear. The stand pictured is not included.
