Antique French Neoclassical Architectural Doorway Study, Signed C. Koeizner (Framed Watercolor on Paper)

$950.00

This watercolor study, signed C. Koeizner, presents three variations of a French Neoclassical doorway design. Each rendering explores a different decorative approach within a unified architectural framework. The design on the left features a black wrought iron gate with urn finials, the central composition depicts a black double door with painted urns and a star shaped transom light, and the version on the right, executed in teal tones possibly intended to represent aged copper, includes bird and garland motifs.

Such studies were produced by architects, designers, or students in the 19th century as part of the Beaux Arts design tradition, emphasizing proportion, ornament, and classical vocabulary. The sheet bears the artist’s signature, C. Koeizner, in the lower right corner.

The work is presented under glass within a bronzed gilt frame featuring a beaded inner trim and a dark grey archival mat. Condition is very good overall, with moderate toning and a 1-inch tear at the upper center and on the left hand side of paper.
