Antique ‘Lies Bring Shame’ Calligraphy Penmanship Sample, Signed (1819, Ink on Paper)
This early 19th century calligraphy study, signed and dated January 13, 1819, by Rebecca Weifs, presents the maxim “Lies bring shame” written in script seven times across the page. Exercises such as this were common in the moral and penmanship education of the early 1800s. Executed in ink on paper. The piece has been newly matted with archival materials and framed under glass in a blond wood frame. In very good condition with wear consistent with age. Please refer to the photos for details.
