Antique Heavily Embellished German Tramp Art Box (1900). German tramp art box with name and date in braided brass on the front (‘Georg In’, ‘1900’). Two metal appliqués above the name with the number ‘12’. Metal braiding in the inset of every diamond. Deep blue velvet adorns the interior of the diamonds throughout the fascia of the box. Lion pulls and metal braiding on either end. A metal appliqué of a dove with an envelope in it’s mouth occupy the two diamonds on the back. Two small handle pulls are attached to the top with four metal ‘pyramid’ shapes in each corner of the diamond. Interior is skinned with the muted gold colored floral fabric. Original brass lion feet are attached to the four corners of the box. In fair condition with wear consistent with age. There is a missing layer on the front upper right corner. A few chips to the corners of top layers on the lid. One wing is missing front the metal dove on the back. Velvet is faded on the diamonds of the lid. Please refer to photos for details.
